David Williams, of Williams Colonial Furniture, is a self taught, first generation Woodworker. His business is located in Clarksville, Missouri, a small town rich with history and with a large community of both traditional and contemporary artists. His shop is located at his home where he resides with his wife, Angel and their two boys, Matt and Jordan. David has been invited to and attended George Washington's Mount Vernon 18th Century Craft Fair in Alexandria, Virginia and Deutsch Country Days in Marthasville, Missouri. He has also accepted an invitation to attend the Colonial Craftsman's Faire in Newport News, Virginia. His work is displayed at Plank Road Pottery in St. Charles, Missouri and he has been asked to provide some pieces for display at the Historic Shapley-Ross House, a circa 1820 home listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, in Moscow Mills, Missouri. David admires the technique and quality of workmanship demonstrated by Early American Furniture makers. From hand planing of table tops to wood pinning joints, he tries to attain the look and feel of a 200 year old piece. By hand painting with milk paint, distressing, and oiling his furniture he can emulate the finish and achieve the lasting patina and beauty of an antique original. As Clarksville continues to grow and prosper as a tourist destination in Missouri, David looks forward to his business doing the same. He also plans to teach his craft to his sons so that they may continue in the tradition of the Colonial craftsmen and keep this form of furniture making alive.
