Stephen Eidson Having been interested in art while attending high school I decided to major in art at Central Missouri State University, in Warrensburg, Mo. After my freshman year, I decided to take only art courses at the exclusion of all other subjects. This allowed me to advance rapidly in art and after three years of college I had taken all the art available, even repeating some of the advanced courses. My plan was to just to be an artist. This is where idealism and reality met. In the real world I worked in different vocations, always with the intention of returning to art. Before I realized it I was turning fifty in the year 2000. I began to paint whenever I had spare time. I soon found I needed more space and rented a vacant three-storv store building in the town of Macks Creek near Lake of the Ozarks. By the year 2002, I was ready to start entering juried shows. In the last three years I've been privileged to have been juried into state, regional and national shows winning awards in some of thern, they include: Best of Missouri Hands, N.O.A.P.S., Saint Louis Artists' Guild, Art Saint Louis, Missouri 50, Harrison Art League, and Arts Rolla. I work in oils, acrylics, pastels, charcoals and mixed media. I love plein air painting, but also do studio work. My subjects include landscapes, portraits, still life, along with some three dimensional works. Along with this I also enjoy photography and have had some success in state contests. Thanks for the opportunity to apply for juried membership into The Best of Missouri Hands.
