Watercolor Collage Paintings Shirley Horacek is a mostly self-taught artist who lives in Sedalia, Missouri. She has been involved in art since childhood. She has degrees in another field, but has taken art classes at State Fair Community College. She continues to take advantage of workshops and classes to further her knowledge in the world of art. She has been making collage art for several years, evolving into the present work. Inspiration for these works is drawn from familiar scenes around the house, holiday settings, and her garden. Through experimentation with assorted rice and mulberry papers she has found a favored means of expressions using unryu paper which is watercolored and cut or torn into the desired shapes to be glued onto watercolor paper. Shirley is an active member of the Sedalia Visual Art Association, Mid-Missouri Art Association, and the Missouri Watercolor Society. Her art work has received numerous awards through the years in local and regional shows. She is represented by Art Impressions Gallery in Sedalia, Missouri. Shirley
