Shawn Harris's glass work ranges from traditional bowls and vases to more sculptural pieces which capture his imagination. Each piece begins as 2100º molten glass and the interior color is added at specific times. The pieces are then shaped with a few puffs of air and are formed with traditional glass forming tools. Shawn has had the privilege of working along side glass masters such as Rob Levin, Bob Carlson, Tom Kreager, and Fritz Dreisbach. Shawn strives to seek out new techniques and forms to expand his diverse range of works. He is inspired by most anything the patterns of color in nature, the diverse textures of wood and rust, or the organic form of a drying leaf. After earning a Bachelor's degree from Emporia State University in Emporia, KS, Shawn moved to Sedalia. He is the only art teacher in the state of Missouri who specializes in glass and he is owner of the only mobile glass studio in Missouri. Shawn is also co-owner of Art Impressions Gallery and Framing in historic downtown Sedalia. Shawn's work has been displayed in Dubois, Wyoming; Emporia and Topeka, Kansas; Kansas City and Sedalia, Missouri; and Tucson, Arizona. His work is in private collections across the United States.
