Art for the Senses and the Soul "I've never seen anything like this" is the common reaction to the exquisite sculptural basketry of Peggy Wyman. A self-described artist by accident, she was introduced to the art of coiled basketry while researching a novel in 1993. Since then, her pine needle creations have won numerous awards in exhibItions from coast to coast and have been snapped up by collectors across the globe. Though Wyman employs the techniques of traditional coiled basketry in her work, the pieces she creates are rarely functional. In her words: "Every sculpture is a conversation between the pine needles, thread and other materials employed and my hands, with the materials directing the form they wish to take." Drawing inspiration from the realms of music, mythology, history and spirituality and from the natural beauty of the Ozarks where she makes her home, Wyman seldom knows exactly what is going to come out of the process until the conversation ends. "Each sculpture is its own story, written in pine needles and bound together by the connection between the person who chooses to own it, me as the artist and the Muse that lives within us all." Wyman's work is represented by galleries in Desert Hot Springs and Idyllwild, California; Sedona, Arizona; Eureka Springs, Arkansas and St. Louis. Peggy Wyman
