My name is Nancy Helmer, owner of Nancy Helmer designs. After retirement from the corporate world, I began pursuing many other interests, three of which are art, geology, and beautiful jewelry. These interests soon led to a second career as a jewelry artist and fabricator. Unable to find components envisioned for my designs led to silver smithing classes. This was a springboard to advanced studies and a design and fabrication studio in my Chesterfield, Missouri home. In the studio, sterling silver, minerals, and semiprecious stones become wearable art. Minerals and stones used come from merchants around the world. Quality vintage and antique items may also find their way into my designs. How a stone "speaks" to me drives selection. It may be the color, shape, or an inspirational idea from the stone. From the stone's "message" comes the design. There is a thrill for me in finding gem materials that speak to me, and an even bigger thrill in putting them into something that I enjoy making and someone else enjoys wearing. You will find my creations at the St. Louis Art Museum, the Missouri Botanical Gardens, as well as in boutiques and juried art shows throughout the Midwest. Nancy Helmer Designs
