I have been drawn to art and the creative process since I was a young girl, drawing or painting posters for my school and church. Later in life after suffering a permanent disability, it was art that kept me focused on the road to recovery. Art provides me with the opportunity to explore the world around me.
Metal is the medium that I choose to work with while it starts out rigid, it can become quite fluid when heated and hammered. This allows me to manipulate the metal into almost any organic form. I use the human body to represent ideas, patterns and emotions that are common or familiar. Self renewal, intimacy, betrayal, beauty and balance reflect some of the current issues I am addressing. I would like my work to be viewed in a familiar and personal way by the observer. I realize my artwork presents thoughts and feelings that are shared, but are not always expressed.
