Janice Lackey's landscapes take you to places for contemplation and dreaming. Her style is "painterly realism" with ambiance. Her paintings are often described as "looking like oil paintings," Janice's still life paintings are coforful and realistic.

"Art has always been a part of my life. Painting and craft works of various kinds were always hobbies. My father was a Sunday painter. I can't really paint a picture without the sunlight. That is what makes the world come alive to me. Sometimes I push the color a little for drama and sparkle."

After receiving a B.A. from William Jewell College, Master of Education and Master of Sociology from Central Missouri State University and teaching in the public school systems for many years, she decided to travel and paint.

Janice has work in The Lisa Frick Gallery in Lake Ozark, MO. The 73rd Street Gallery in Omaha, NE and Chambers Art Studio in Warsaw, MO. Her work can be seen in the gallery section in the DVD Series: Mastering Color by Donna Aldridge, 2005.

Lackey became a member of Best of Missouri Hands in 2000. In 1998 she became a charter member of the Mid-America Pastel Society. She has been a member of Mid-America Artists for many years.
