My name is Mari Besancenez. I have lived in Missouri my whole life. I am very happily married with four children and two dogs.

In 2000, I decided I needed a hobby of my own. I always liked art as a child, so I began to dabble with drawing. I took an adult basic drawing class at a local community college. I enjoyed learning drawing techniques. I then purchased a great book on how to draw portraits. I was amazed that such art could be drawn with only a pencil. The book was awesome. I learned so much about the art. Each time I practiced drawing a portrait, I saw improvement. Most of my drawings were for friends and family.

I then entered a craft fair and local church fund-raising auctions and continue to draw for others in my community. I am looking forward to participating in several more art and craft fairs which are now on my calendar. The portraits I draw of people have now expanded into pets and homes. All my art is hand drawn by studying photos of the subject. I am doing something that I love to do and for that I am extremely grateful.
