I have lived in the Kansas City area for most of my life. Drawing was always something I did as a hobby until an art teacher at North Kansas City High School inspired me to pursue my artistic abilities. I went on to study commercial art at Central Missouri State, and entered the graphic arts field upon graduation.

Throughout my career I continued to draw in pen and ink as a hobby, with science fiction and fantasy as my main subject matter. I wanted to expand into 3 dimensional art, so my wife bought me a wood carving kit for Christmas one year. I enjoyed working with wood, but thought I would like to try working with stone. Once again, my wife came through with a Christmas gift of stone and stone carving tools. I must be the only person who would be thrilled with a box of rocks for Christmas.

I have been working in stone for about 5 years now. I use mostly alabaster and soapstone which I get from Canada. The variety of colors and grains of the two types of stone lend themselves to an array of shapes and textures. I have recently begun to show my work and am pleased at the positive response it has received.
