After her apprenticeship, Deann has pursued a studio career as a handwoven tapestry artist.

Deann has exhibited her tapestries nationally and internationally, including St. Petersburg, Russia and Canada. She has been seen on Channel 9 television in St. Louis and has had her work in many professional magazines, newspapers, Fiberarts Design books and illustration books. She has won several awards and honors for both her tapestries and graphic design (including a TV commercial). She has been an artist-in-residence, juroç lecturer. In 2007, she curated the exhibition "Matters at Hand: Contemporary Narrative Tapestry" at Craft Alliance Gallery in University City, MO. She has a piece in the American Tapestry Biennial Eight (ATB8) which will be at the Elder Gallery in Lincoln, Nebraska and the American Textile History Museum in Lowell, Massachusetts. Her tapestry "Play Girl" was in the American Tapestry Alliance's "Connections: Small Tapestry International" at Eariham College, Richmond, Indiana. then traveling to the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles in California. She had a one-person exhbition, "Face It", at THE GALLERY, in the University City Public Library as part of "Innovations in Textiles 8,2009", St. Louis, Missouri.

She has worked as a graphic designer and illustrator. Using her design skills, Deann has been an exhibitor in Art in Bloom at the Museum of Fine Art in Boston and decorated interiors for six years at the historic Hosmer House in Sudbury, Massachusetts.

She was the editor of the Journal for ITNET, an international tapestry organization, for two years, Past-President of Tapestry Weavers West, a San Francisco Bay area tapestry artists association and of Missouri Fiber Artists, a statewide fiber organization.

Deann is a native St. Louisan who has moved back to St. Louis after having been gone for eighteen years. She has lived in northern California, the Dallas, Texas area and twice in the Boston, Massachusetts area.
