Dawning Visions paintings - Dawn Gano

Time freezes as D. Gano's colorful palette breathes life into a new painting. Gano passionately becomes consumed by her painting so that time no longer exists.  At five foot one, this vertically challenged young woman climbs shelves at local stores to reach items on the top.  You may see her tooling around in her garden with her large dogs, Kai and Jack, or even weight lifting and think she is an average mid-western, metropolitan wife instead of an educated disciplined artist dedicated to joyous interpretations of her travels.

D. Gano's art usually starts out with a preconceived idea or vision.  "Traveling, I see scenes that I can just visualize as paintings.  When most people travel they take in the sights, I take in future paintings. If I can envision it, it's as good as a map to the finish line.  I'll make some sketches and use reference photos, but I always have that map in my mind.  It amazes me that I have the power to transform a blank white canvas into my vision with paints and brushstrokes."  Intrigued by the universal language of color; color schemes, color psychology, and color theory are all present to serenade Gano's canvases.  One can just hear the musical rhythm as you look at a Gano.  While painting, she listens to music - usually jazz.  She feels everyone deserves to have a touch of vacation in their home or office.  "I want the viewer to have a positive experience with my work, a visual retreat."

She recently married Vernon Gano III, an "army brat" and soccer guru.  Gano and her new soul-mate moved to St. Charles County, near St. Louis, Missouri.  Bringing nature to her studio door offering a daily dose of inspiration, the artist in her smiles when she says, "We even have a farm with cows nearby".  The newlyweds realize that suburbia is quickly encroaching.  Gano travels to expand her constant need for new material as well as keep her creative juices flowing.  Spain, Gibraltar, and Mexico are just a few of the destinations her ventures have taken her.  With a new mate to share the adventure, Gano is looking forward to a trip to Ireland and the Mediterranean within the next year.

D.  Gano's background boasts of playing the piano, earning a painting degree, and successfully teaching high school art.  Thousands of teenage minds have benefited from her experiences.  With the diligence and enthusiasm she has instilled in her students, she paints pursuing her own dreams.  As she envisions it, the dream unfolds; Gano opened her professional business, Dawning Visions, in 2003.  The artist plans to progress from teaching and devote her future to painting visual retreats inspired by breathtaking places.  Leaving behind her constant allergies, she will eventually move to a more temperate location.  Her works hang in galleries and private collections throughout the United States.
