"Manifesting a Personal Myth"
Throughout my
life a myth has been emerging. Its origins are to be found in ideas
told me by relatives in my youth. They suggested that my paternal
Grandfather was an American Indian. Having very little real information,
I began imagining the elements of a personal myth.
The manifestation
of Crowdog elaborated that myth and led to Zacharia Crozen, Shaman
of the future People of the Dark Dance. They were banished by
the rest of human kind who had survived an ecocidal apocalypse caused
by their ancestors. Those with pale skins were banned from the light
of day.
Zacharia is the
only member of the tribe who sees images of what animals were like
before that apocalypse destroyed virtually all of nature above ground.
They are embodied by me as "Animal Spirits." Zacharia's
visions became what you see being manifested in my work.
Zacharia described
"Floaters" as "the ephemeral companions of the Dark
Dance tribe." So named because they seemed to float at the edges
of peripheral vision. They express both positive and negative aspects
and would lead Dark Dance individuals toward or away from the redemption
they seek in spiritual enlightenment.
