Linda Dougherty-Gamm
History
Growing up in the
Pacific West Coast city of Portland, Oregan where three major art glass
companies reside, I saw spectacular pieces of glass. When I moved to
Califormia and became an art teacher with the San Mateo school district
I had the opportunity to experiment with this medium. Whena fellow artist
put me on her torch, I fell in love with the flame and the molten glass
and saw the ever-expanding possibilities for creative expression. I
have been completely immersed with working at mastering my glass craft
ever since for the past 12 years.
Artist Statement
Molten glass is
my passion. It offers wonderful challenges and difficulties that are
like no other medium. With a brilliant palette of color I am able to
transorm droplets of liquefied glass into original one-of-a-kind works
of art and handcrafted pieces of jewelry and collectibles. Frozen in
crystal, glass flowers and designs will remain as alluring in years
to come as the day of their creation.
