ARTstravaganza!
The Best in Fine Art & Craft
FINE, FUN, AND FOLK ARTWORK
Clayton,
Missouri- Juried Artists from The Best of Missouri Hands are gathering
from throughout the state of Missouri at the St. Louis Artists
Guild for their 4th Annual ARTstravaganza! with fine, fun and folk
artwork. More than 40 artists from this award winning all Missouri
group will fill the gracious Oak Knoll mansion and the adjoining heated
tent with multi-media magic. This three day show will open on Friday,
October 28th with a Moonlight Reception from 4:00pm to 9:00pm and
continue on Saturday, October 29th from 10:00am to 5:00pm and on Sunday,
October 30th from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Admission is free.
The artwork in ARTstravaganza! will cover all aspects
of fine arts and crafts including: pottery, painting, glass, jewelry,
fiber, woodworking, sculpture, scrimshaw, photography and much more.
Friday night's Moonlight Reception will feature the Native American
flute music of Mark Holland, founder of Autumn's Child, wine tasting from Peaceful Bend Winery,
and hors d'oeuvres prepared by Chef Eddie.
"Hands Helping Kids" is the name of a silent
auction which will be held during ARTstravaganza! to benefit Carneys
Kids Foundation, a local charity which supports organizations seeking
to enhance the quality of children's lives. Best of Missouri Hands
artists will each create a leaf for the Hands Helping Kids Tree. Each
leaf will then be auctioned off to help support Carney's Kids. Each
and every leaf will be a unique one-of-a-kind creation, made by each
artist in his or her own medium.
Best of Missouri Hands, also known as the Missouri Artisans
Association, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the development
of Missouri artisans. The goal of Best of Missouri Hands is to encourage
and assist Missouris established and emerging fine craft artists.
The Best of Missouri Hands artists have been chosen to create ornaments
on the Christmas tree in the Missouri Governors Mansion for
the past three years. "Many of my favorite gifts are those I
have purchased from the multi-talented artists of Best of Missouri
Hands", said Missouris then First Lady Mrs. Lori Hauser
Holden.
The St. Louis Artists Guild (www.stlouisartistsguild.org)
will once again be hosting ARTstravaganza! in its beautifully restored
1920's mansion in the heart of Oak Knoll Park in Clayton. First formed
in 1886, the Artists' Guild has always been a significant contributor
to the cultural environment of the greater St. Louis area. For over
a century, most professional artists in St. Louis achieved their first
recognition through its competitive exhibitions. The St. Louis Artists
Guild is located at #2 Oak Knoll Park, Clayton, Missouri, with the
entrance just north of the intersection of Big Bend and Clayton Roads.
A free parking shuttle will be available in a nearby lot. The telephone
number for the Artists' Guild is 314-727-6266.
High quality digital images of last year's event and
of various artists and their artwork are available for publication.
