“This does something for me!” or “Ohh… the colors” are frequent comments about Carla’s art.  “My job is to The Art of Carla Reinagelencourage people.  My art helps them connect with that part deep inside that responds to beauty and Creation,” says Carla.

“I’ve been faced with health limitations so tangible progress with my art is often a real struggle for me.  This is why my signature includes  ‘by God’s grace’”.  Because people sense peace and hope in her work, Carla partners with others who have a heart to encourage and make a difference from local neighborhoods to international ministries.  Note cards featuring her art can be found among those working with racial reconciliation, the homeless, prisoners, orphans, refugees and children’s hospitals.  Her originals and giclée prints grace the walls of non-profits and art patrons nationally with an increasing international presence.

With the goal of increasing her body of work, Carla is in the midst of a series of paintings featuring the seasonal lives of the Northern Cardinal and Dogwood tree.  In addition to having her first one-person show, her vision is to create a children’s book featuring the art and poems she has written about the Northern Cardinal.  “My family deeply values conservation plus we are always at the library, so a book featuring my art that I can read aloud to children seems a natural fit.”

The Art of Carla ReinagelCarla has developed Steps in Artistic Development, a curriculum that teaches both skills and appreciation of art.   Her approach starts with the “big picture” of what art is and who the student is before teaching specific drawing and painting skills.  “Teaching is fun.  In synergizing with my students who range in skill and experience, we create a process of discovery which helps students stay motivated and willing to put in the effort to produce fulfilling art.”

“My education comes mainly from the inter-library loan system,” quips Carla.  Loving high school art classes, Carla ignored her calling during college while continuing her watercolor as a hobby.  Realizing just how important art was to her, she refined her drawing skills through an art correspondence course later in life.

“My art studio success is evidence that staying focused over time produces results.”
